I am looking for good reference texts to buy concerning Linux, Unix, FreeBSD, etc. The deeper I dig into these OS's the more I want to know about them, and the scattered info on the net does not seem to quench my thirst.

I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on what to get and what to stay away from before I lay my money down. Thanx

Hi OS,

I highly recommend the books by Vahalia, Stallings, and Bacon, if you want to truly understand these OSes from a systems point of view. They are especially great for their diagrams to aid understanding. The device driver books I threw in because what is an OS without device drivers, eh? The sysadmin books are for more practical useage.
