Question Installing apps issues
I've been trying to install mplayer and opera using apt-get but I keep getting error messages. For mplayer I get the message that it can't find the package and for opera it says there isn't any install candidate/ What the hey? What does that mean? I don't know. Anyway, I made a screenshot if that helps.

If it's not in the repository then you will have to DL the tarball and install manually.

Both of those are in repositories, but not the official ones. You need to enable the nonfree universe and multiverse repositories.

Working better now
Thanks, that helped quite a bit. The available info is well written for the most part. Still it's a bit of a learning curve. I thought I was pretty savvy because I know Mac and WIndows fairly well. It seems I've only scratched at the surface. I'll post back if I need more help.
