Ubuntu 6.10 Internet Help!
I am having trouble getting my internet to work through a direct ethernet connection. I hear Ubuntu 6.10 should have the internet working right away once I plug in my ethernet cord, but it doesn't work! It is giving me an ip address and I am receiving packets, but the internet isn't working. It appears to read the ethernet cable and everything. I tried to disable IPv6 in firefox but that didn't work. I don't know what's up.

Thanks.

Oh please! I am sure the solution is incredibly simple. I have been trying to get this thing wokring for 2 days straight. I have looked through everything network related in Ubuntu and I can't figure it out. Everything looks like it should work!

When I first set up Ubuntu I too had a problem with the internet.
I found that I had to configure my router by entering the MAC address of the Ubuntu computer
as allowed into the router.

Thanks for replying!

Just a few minutes ago I decided to try going directly from my router (i was trying directly from my modem) and it magically worked. I do not know why it didn't work through the modem, but oh well. Thanks.
