SSH'ing into a virtual FreeBSD machine using VMWare
Howdy Gents,
I'm currently trying to learn the ropes in FreeBSD administration, and I'd like to be able to SSH into my virtual machine (using Putty to SSH, VMWare to emulate,) while I'm away from the computer running it. I'm really green to this stuff, so does anyone have some pointers or perhaps a link to a tutorial on how to set this up?

Thanks!

What kind of networking did you chose for your virtual machine?
(bridged, NAT, ...)

Aha, figured it out, I just hadn't configured inet properly.

Here's a new problem though:

I can ping remote hosts, but I cannot download new packages through the pkg_add command. If I try something like:

pkg_add -r sudo

It'll spit back an error message saying freebsd.org's ftp server cannot be reached. Ideas?

Are you able to ping / resolve by name?

Check /etc/resolv.conf for DNS servers
