How to configure X in Slackware
Greetings!

Well, I successfully installed Slackware 8.0 on my box, but I have two problems.

One: I don't know how to configure X
Two: My mouse doesn't work

At this time, I am stuck in a command line. If anyone could help me, I'd be happy happy! Thanks in advance!

You should have gone through and did a basic X configuration when you installed...

Wait. no. I'm lying.. it uses X4...

Try just typing startx and see what happens...

"xwmconfig" will open up a script that lets you choos your window manager (Gnome, KDE, Enlightenment etc)...

If just typing Startx doesn't work, su to root and type "xf86config"

Make sure you remember your monitor specs

When I try 'startx', I get a fatal X server error. I didn't have to enter any monitor specs while I installed, so I'll try the configuration. Thanks!

It doesn't help. I'm going nuts. Forget Slackware for now, I'll just use RedHat.

Been off for a while. I lost my password, and changed my e-mail address, so I'm maxim2 now. Probably won't see me as much, either. Take care!

Anyway, thanks for the help.

Uh yesterday I went to taco bell with my brothers Keith, Kyle, and friend Fat Eric. We were sitting there drinking our pop and then kyle accidentally spills his all over the table. So he gets a heap of napkins to clean it up. As he's doing it, some stupid guy came over to us and said "Pick up those napkins. And leave our property". We argued with the guy, and he started getting mad. The guy kicked us out of taco bell. The funny thing is that Keith used to work at Taco Bell, so I had the manager hat on. I started going around the taco bell after we'd been kicked out and bothered the customers. Because the workers at Taco Bell started to bother us.

That guy wasn't too nice :-(
