X troubles; using slackware 8; have i810e. any help?
My /var/log/XFree86.0.log says this:

/var/log/XFree86.0.log: XFree86: command not found
/var/log/XFree86.0.log: protocol: command not found
/var/log/XFree86.0.log: Release: command not found
/var/log/XFree86.0.log: If: command not found
/var/log/XFree86.0.log: newer: command not found
/var/log/XFree86.0.log: line 7: syntax error near unexpected token '(s'
/var/log/XFree86.0.log: reporting problems (see http://www.XFree86.org/FAQ)

I don't know for sure if there is a /var/log/XFree86.0.log line in the last one. Whenever I try to start X, I always get "AddScreen/screen Init failed for driver 0. Basically, I can't use X with Slackware 8.0, and I really, <i>really</i> want to!
THanks for any help!

Yeah throw in your mandrake or redhat cd.
