Weird...
I am using Ubuntu 6.10. Whenever I try to drag a theme into the theme menu for it to install, it always tells me it is the wrong file format/type. They are tar.gz. Even when I extract it, it still tells me it is not of the vaild type. What should I do?

Thanks guys.

Does this happen with all the themes you attempt to load or just some. The reason I ask is because I've run across that occasionally too. Usually, it's because the contributor didn't package it correctly or it's corrupted during the upload/download. In which case, it's nothing to do with your system or anything you're doing.

It is doing it with every theme I try. I am obtaining the themes through "gnome-look.org". Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks again.

Grab a couple themes from here:

and see what happens.

The reason why they were not working, is because of people that do not like to label their themes correctly. Some of the things I was downloading, were marked as a them, but were really a login manager window, or a splash screen. You cannot install them to theme preferences, they have to go into the login manager preference window...You helped me figure out the problem, so I owe you thank you!

Yup. I figured it was something to do with the contributors and not you or your system. Glad you got it figured out, anyway.
