Relclaiming my external HD from the NSLU2 network storage link
hi all,

i have an external HD that i linked into my wireless network via a linksys NSLU2 network storage link. after using this setup for about 6 months, i absolutely loathe the NSLU2 and want to smash it. the problem, however, is that now my external HD is formatted to only work with the storage link; my ibook G4 can't see it when i plug it directly in.

from what i understand, the NSLU2 runs on Linux, and has installed some kind of partitions in my HD. anyone have any ideas how to get my HD back so i can just plug it directly into my ibook? can i fix this somehow from my ibook? can i fix it from a PC running windows? do i need to find someone running Linux and fix it from their computer? is my HD doomed to be attached to this horribly slow NSLU2 for life?

any help would be so greatly appreciated. i should mention (i'm case it's not obvious) that i don't have a wealth of nerd cred, unfortunately, so detailed instructions are always awesome. thanks so much!

snuffie, If you haven't fixed this problem yet, go to the Linksys download site, and download version6.3 firmware. This allows connection of a HD that can be formatted either FAT32 or NTFS and can be read by either the NSLU2 or your PC. Note: I know this works with XP, but I'm not sure of earlier OS's. Good luck
