Solved: uninstalling fedora 6
My grandpa (79 years) bought a new computer. On it there is Fedora 6 and OpenOffice, but he knows only windows and microsoft office...so he is very very confused when looking at fedora and Oppenoffice - he can not find what he had in microsoft word...so I told him, no problem! I will fix everything. I took his computer and said that everything will be ok in two days. I planed to put on xp proffesional and microsoft office 2003. I read about how to do it and I understood I must just put in the installation disc of xp proffesional and everything will be fine...but I can not run the installation cd in fedora... I put in the disc and nothing happens; I then scrolled down the programs which I can use to open whatever on cd - I dont know much but I thought I must choose installation ..but then I got message that I must write the password to use this kind of option, it is locked...and now my questions:
1. Must I know the password, or am I wrong and there is something else what prevents the cd to run?..I will call the seller and demand the administrators password...
2. Is there a fast way to uninstall fedora - I dont know yet the password and dont have a fedora installation cd...

Thank you for your help and time. I dont know much about operational systems but fedora must go down in two days - I promised..

I investigated more and found out I need the root password and I can get new one when I boot in one user and then I write there special word - pswrd something like that..hope that when I get the password it will make xp installation cd to run ...

Just slip in the XP installation CD and let it delete all the Fedora partitions to make room for XP installation.

Or you can boot up any Linux Live CD, say one from Linux magazine, and run terminal program cfdisk to delete every partition. After booting up it takes less than half minute to remove everything.

I can not run the cd ...
The problem is that the installation xp cd doesnt wanna run on fedora ..when I put it in my laptop with xp proffesional on it runs and I see the xp proffesional screen ....I can not find out why I can not run the cd...I just see the folders and the content in this folders; when I try to run exe files I get - unable to retrieve software information - this could be cause by not having a network connection available ..I dont have internet on fedora pc...I dont know what I am doing wrong...

Ok put the XP cd in and reboot. When the first post scrteen appears on reboot, press del. If this doesn't work try f2 or f10 but del should work. You'lln now be in the bios. In here go to boot sequence. as the first boot device sdelect cdrom, next press f10 and return and hey presto you'll be booting from cd. Then after windows loads the setup files you have to delete the linux partition and format the drive as ntfs. This is very simple and the windows cd will guide you through it. Post back if you need more help. Max.

No problem, Glad to help, post back if you need any more help, Max.
Oh remember to install all the drivers for the pc after windows installation. If you don't have a driver cd the drivers will be available for download from the manufacturers site. Or if you want post the make and model of the system, or if it's custom built, the motherboard make and model and i'll link you to your drivers.

Thank you ..everything went ok..the system is working, although all the drivers are not installed. I told my grandpa to ask the seller if he would check the system once more and put on all the needed drivers...you are great! thx
