Dream Linux Help! Please!!!
I d
ownloaded and installed
on my computer. I am having tech issues. I cannot get the thing to load on its own. I have to put my boot cd in to get it to load. then once loaded I cannot use my cd/dvd player. When I ran the installer it went through all the motions, but will not boot from the Hard disk. I also have no sound. I have completely eradicated all traces of win xp off the system because it is out of warranty and I decided to play with it. I would like to get the system up and running. I am also open to a different linux, as long as it is a media center version so my kids can watch dvd's and tv from the computer. Can you please Help

If you're new to GNU/Linux operating systems, I would recommend you try Ubuntu or Mepis. They're much easier to install, to set up, and to use.

Yes, but I didn't have a problem with Dream Linux either.
In Linux one pays only if he/she wishes to and often that is for cover the cost of CD and postage.
Distrowatch.com is the place to get 99% of them free.

I'm running Dream Linux and had no problems installing it - I can only guess that something went wrong during the install and suggest trying again - and you would have to DL and install the media parts on Ubuntu and Mepis, though it's not a big problem to do.
Everything worked out of the box with Dream Linux for me...

Dream linux runs ok
You might want to check the iso you burnt from is ok you can do a check sum on your CD.
I use Dream linux and PClinuxOS both work fine for me.
Using DVD with Ubuntu can be a bit of trial it is a great distro but they are very conservative with codecs ( intellectual property ).
Good luck

Thanks
I finally got it working. I had to install the 2.2on the top. I have the candidate three on disc now. Should I use that one, or the os from the top of the page.
How do I get my dvd's to play. I am having issues with the programs. Thanks

I bit more detail please
Ok, you installed 2.2 on top ?. What did you install before?
If you have installed 2,2 multimedia edition you should be able to play DVD's out of the box so to speak usng Gxine.
