micro emulator
I need to run a few linux commands from the linux terminal command prompt inside Windows, such as those to partition, format, recover and check a hard drive, actually a usb key drive. I don't need to run any program. I have DSL and Knoppix- too large. I can run DSL in an emulator but it's too big for what I need. Any suggestions as how to get the linux terminal and add specific commands functioning inside windows? I've heard of a "BBC"- a stripped down linux for a "business card"? Could all programs be stripped from "this" to only leave a framework for terminal commands?

I can use Windows functions. Making the smallest linux package is my real question which I haven't given enough thought about- I'll delete this post later.

What is wrong with partitioning, formatting ,etc with windows utilities? Could you be a little more detailed in why you need to do this?
