autofs service will not start
I have Mandriva 2007 and on initial boot everything succeeds except autofs service. I am a linux newbie and believe this will be good work to get a startup service working again. So how do I do this? I tried manually starting it from gui services window did not work. I like to work out of the console though if possible. Things I've done to the system that I did not know i was doing.
1.I've deleted everything out of /tmp which caused Crossover to have problems so i just uninstalled that program.
2. I've installed ATI video driver which seems to work great.
3. I've messed with fstab because i took out my 2nd Hard Drive ( but I'm pretty sure that file is ok)
4. I might of messed with mtab when I 1st noticed autofs would not start, don't remember.
That is all i can think of for now.

Are you using NFS shares at all? If you're not using NFS autofs is not needed and can be uninstalled. If you're looking for information about mounting USB drives and the like take a look at udev.

I'm not hooked up to any network. I actually stop all my internet and network services, including anti-virus and firewall. But, I would still like to know how to get the service working. If you could just point me in the right direction.
