need script for pinging servers
Hi,

I am having 3 servers. I need a script on a server that pings the other 2 servers.
If one server is down, the script on the third machine that does ipconfig /release, and then sets up the IP address and configuration of the "down server" on the "up server".
Is that possible ?? Are there some examples out there in the web??
Thnx

Not sure about the pinging script, would have to return some kind of errorcode (0/1). But here's a site that tells how to change a static IP address using NETSH http://www.2000trainers.com/windows-...address-netsh/

Found two sites that'll help.
The second script is a little more complex but I prefer it:
First:
http://www.mactech.com/articles/mact...ics/index.html

Second:
http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/arc...hp/t-4636.html

These sites also explain more about scripts and the ping command.

Hi supertom1980,

What happens when the third server, i.e. the one that does the pinging is down?
