I wouldn't think it'd even be possible to run a 64 bit OS on a 32 bit machine. Vice-versa works fine though. Try it and see.

Oh, no, sorry, I do have 64 bit, I was mistaken. I thought that because I had the 32 bit Vista then I must have a 32 bit cpu, but my cpu is AMD Turion64x2. Sorry about that, you can tell that I'm pretty ignorant in this.

AMD only makes 64bit processors. As of 2005 I believe.

just try a pclinux2007 live cd install.
I believe it it the best way for a person new to linux to get a dual booting os
