I followed the steps in wiki to enable fingerprint reader.

While installing driver i am facing problem.
I am using RHEL release 3

When i run sh install.sh
I will get error as
Installing Touchchip TFM/ESS fingerprint BSP........

/usr/local/liblibtfmessbsp.so:undefined symbol:Usb_interrupt_read colud not load addin module "/usr/local/lib/libtfmessbsp.so"

Hi sailaja,

Welcome to TSG!

From where and how did you obtain the fingerprint reader? What I am asking is did you use Yum, Synaptic Package Manager, or apt-get?

If you downloaded the installation for fingerprint reader from a website - what website?

Ok, you are using Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 3.

Let us know the answers to the above question to help you sort out this problem and make some suggestions with that in mind.

Hi sailaja,

Since you are posting in our Linux forum, I must assume you are interested in a finerprint reader that is Linux compatible.

By following your link to the latest.tar.bz2 file it appears to me that you missed the Linux version, i.e. if you visit the URL: http://www.qrivy.net/~michael/blua/ you will see that there is a bioapi-linux link which I assume is where you should pick up the proper Linux version.

When you download and install source code, it is usually assumed that you plan to compile the source code to install an executable from a makefile using the make command. If you are not familiar with this - you really should learn before you plan to install software of this nature. Linux is not Windows.

With regard to the error you got, it seems that the author of the code, a Michael R. Crusoe looks accessible from that website. If you move your cursor over his name at http://www.qrivy.net/~michael/ you can plainly see his email address, and should probably ask him about your errors and whether you have the proper version.

Good luck,

-- Tom
