Exclamation Help installing Xubuntu on a windows 98 se
I have minimal experience with Linux but i have used wubi and have a Ubuntu os on my computer,its awesome but im having difficulty with beryl,i am currently using a Xp to post.

I am trying to install Xubuntu on a windows 98 se computer
Dell dimension l550r
pentium 3
256 ram

I have downloaded a alternate iso file of xubuntu
and put it on a cd with iso recorder it looks like this .http://attachments.techguy.org/attac...1&d=1188361496

I hope thats rite
the predicament starts here
im stuck i put the cd in the 98 but it didn't instantly boot like window installers

Should i completely format the hard drive then do it?
i have done a search on this i used loadlin and mounting but thats confusing to understand
im sorry if you answered this question a million times im a NOOB at this stuff

Have you gone into the BIOS to make sure that the boot order is CD-Rom first? Old machines do not have this option and you have to make a boot floppy first. Boot starts from the floppy and passes to the CD-Rom.

but in the installation i am stuck at Configure the network
i have a ethernet cable connection to the 98
