Solved: Learning linux (unix) the easy way.
Ok...

For those who want to learn unix/linux fundamentals i found this course at www.vtc.com
and it rocks. Its called "unix shell fundamentals" , the first few chapters are free too.
Ive read some chapters in the Oreilly *nix manuals which is cool.. but this will kick start your unix learning curve 10 fold.

The whole library is 30 a month and its a reputable company with all of the comptia certs, microsoft, programming, linux, redhat, ubuntu, and many other courses, and the most reasonable fee for video led training that ive found on the net in the last few years.

Also...

if you dont want to install unix but still want to learn... you can create a free shell account at:
www.freeshell.org. you just have to send 1 dollar to activate some of the more advanced features, via mail, or other options. They also have scripting/shell tutorials for vi, mutt (email), pine, elinks (browse the web without a browser), ftp, pgp, scp, and many others (link on the homepage).

...... its pretty cool..

have fun!

not spam just thought id throw this out there to see if anyone has heard of, or used these services too.
