Hello,
I can't figure out how to be able to send mails using sendmail. I've a dovecot/sendmail installation and I can recieve mails OK but when I try to send mail I get the error message "Relaying denied. Proper authentication required."

Example from maillog:

mydomain.com is actually my real domain, and the "xxxx.." parts of the IPs and mail addresses has just been changed for this thread. I really need help to solve this, I can't figure out why the server just gives me that error message regardless of what I do.. Please help!

Welcome to TSG!

What Linux distribution are you using? What version of sendmail?

You may need a package that enables you to use sendmail, however, sendmail is a beasty - horrible code to maintain, fraught with vulnerabilities. Postfix is one such package.

If you use Ubuntu, then to install postfix try:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install postfix
