Solved: Dual Boot
I have a pc with 2 hdd's. Windows on one and one that has windows files on it. I plan to delete all the files on the 2nd HDD and install Ubuntu on it. I read through a previous thread that related to this about how the bios only reads the first disk set in bios. So i was wondering if there was a way to install ubuntu on that 2nd drive and dual boot without having to change the boot order in BIOS.

Yes, it is possible, something like installing the grub boot manager to the MBR of the first hard drive so it is able to boot from it. Don't hold me to this, see if others have any ideas first.

Yep you could do that if your Windows will boot, without being "repaired". It's less reliable however, because DOS & M$ Windows may overwrite your GRUB install, if it's on "their" disk.

Physically you can change the disk order by switching cables. Or you can install a Boot Manager to provide a menu, to boot Windows or GRUB on the 2nd disk.

There's a thread on booting Linux from Visita (XP?) on this forum, but that hasn't worked for me; I'm not sure if there's not a Vendor boot manager installed rather than the M$ one.
