Setting up ost computer on Ubuntu
Hello,

I'm doing something wrong because it keeps cutting off my internet connection so I thought id try my luck here.

As stated above, I'm trying to setup this computer as a host on my home network.

System>Administration>Network
Location: Blank
-I double click on the wired connection and disable roaming mode
Configuration: Static IP
IP Address: "My ip address here"
Subnet: Automatically input by system "255.0.0.0"
Gateway: 192.168.1.1 < default router ip

I click apply, my internet shuts down, and the network is not found.
What am I doing wrong here?

Your Gateway needs to be on same network, and if the suggested Subnet mask is 255.0.0.0, I'd guess you're using 10.x.x.x as your static IP.

You should use an address 192.168.1.X to agree with your router, or choose DHCP and have it allocate an address.
