You'll have to find the dhcpd (and related) sources that RedHat uses to build their distro. Gentoo might be a good starting point, since Gentoo can be built from source from the ground up. I don't know how readily available RedHat/Fedora source packages are.

Maybe see if there's a "devel" package for dhcpd and dhclient you can install to see the source but I'm just guessing.

Good luck!

Peace...

Hi barjeshforyou,

You may find it instructive to look at the Wikipedia webpage on DHCP here.

If you run a LAN at home with a router with several computers, or just use dialup for one computer - it is likely that your ISP assigns either your router or your single computer a dynamic IP address via the DHCP protocol - unless there is a statically assigned IP address by your ISP.

In either case, what are you trying to do - configure your NIC by running dhclient? If at installation time, you configured both the DHCP client (dhclient) and server (dhcpd) on your machine, then the file /etc/dhcpd.conf may contain some information which may be of interest to you. There also may be a dhclient.conf file with options that can be edited. Read the man pages on dhcp: man dhcp or dhclient or dhcpd for more information.

There are .rpm files on the Fedora CDROM and repositories with the source that can be downloaded from mirror FTP websites.
