Solved: animated gif
the default picture viewer is showing an animated .gif image as a still image. What kind of viewer can I download that will show it as animated?

Ubuntu 7.10

Good question. Gimp and your browser can both "play" the animated GIFs so you can see the animation. Does ImageMagick "play" animations?

Peace...

Looks like gthumb is what you want. Eye of GNOME *might* work as well. Both Eye of GNOME and gthumb should be in the Ubuntu repositories, if they aren't already installed on your system.

Peace...

"Eye of GNOME" is what I was referring to what I said "default". It doesn't do animation.

I"ll try gthumb

Ok cool, gthumb works! But it makes the animation go super fast. At least it works

Thanks!

Ah. It looks like EOG has been lacking animated GIF support for some time now.

I haven't played with gThumb much but I think I'll give it a look myself.

Just curious, was gThumb already installed on your system or did you have to install it?

Peace...
