I don't understand Livecd's (pclinuxos and Ubuntu)
I have two live cd's. One is pclinuxos and the other is Ubuntu. Whenever I try to run either one of them they never fully load up. I get about halfway through the loading screen and it just stops. Is this a known problem? Also how do I just install these instead of running the live cd? I can't ever find the option on the first screen. I already have a Linux partition from a previous Fedora Core 1 install (which is actually still installed). Could it be that my computer just isn't compatible with Live cd's? I'm very new to Linux and I would appreciate any help and understanding.

Thanks

It could be any number of things,
What are you computer specs?
Do the CD's work on other computers?
More information needed....
Live CD's should just fire up and run - so something is not compatible

Download the right distro (32 or 64 bit versions differ and may not work on your particular hardware) and burn the disk at a slower speed. I usually go with a 4X burning speed for Linux distros.

I would try different distros. Sidux works well for me as does Knoppix.

Are you sure your pc is set to boot from a cd?

At boot-up, immediately and repeatedly press 'del' key, or 'esc'; sometimes F8 key, F2, and you can then check 'boot from' sequence.

Make sure it is an iso image as well that you burn.
