Cygwin uses Java?
Hi:

I hope that this is the correct forum. I have a Cygwin issue related to the utilization of resources.

I have installed Cygwin on a WIN 2003 server to call Unix scripts on Unix boxes through ssh from the Windows box. Everything has been working pretty well for almost two years. The other day, the server went down. The Intel support group told me that they had found a Java process that had consumed all virtual memory, and that they had traced it to a Cygwin process. I have learned only about enough of this to get Cygwin and the ssh connected to the Unix boxes and working. My question: Does anybody have any ideas as to why a Java process could be related to Cygwin that could cause unlimitted consumtion of virtual memory and bring a box down?

Thanks, Jim

I guess it would relate to what the script run via Cygwin does. Cygwin itself doesn't have any Java requirements, that I'm aware of. If you are using Cygwin purely to run a SSH client on Windows, could you use PuTTY instead? Are you trying to run OpenSSH on Windows via Cygwin now?

Peace...
