Is there a way to make one's own linux apart from LFS / BLFS ?

In Linux you can make your own iso, just by a simple command mkisofs.

Therefore you can installer any Linux, hack it any way you want to your own satisfaction and create an iso out of it. I suppose you can call it your own Linux and distribute it as much as you like.

The hard bit is to explain your work and to maintain it year after year without pay.
