Xubuntu will not install on my ancient machine, Freezing problems.
Specs:

Cyrix 250 mhz processor
128 megs of RAM
radeon 7000

I have tried to install Xubuntu, and it keeps hanging when I try to install it, I see the background image, and the cursor, and for about 3 minutes I can move that cursor, after that it seems everything freezes, But the CD drive activity light is going crazy, so I think it's doing something.

I just can't move the mouse, and it is frozen, is this a problem with older specs like mine, or will it just take like 40 minutes to load the setup?

Also, I'm not really familliar with linux, I know it a bit, used ubuntu a while on my other desktop, but I've been looking for a smaller distro, but has great functionality for a beginner, I've been looking at puppylinux, and I can't get that to work, and I've also looked at fluxbuntu, Damn small linux (Not very user friendly and wouldn't install).

Is there any other distro as noob friendly as the *ubuntu series?

There are two different install disks. The Desktop disk is a Live CD and it uses far more RAM than you have. The Alternate disk is a plain install disk and uses far less RAM. Make sure that you are using the Alternate disk and NOT the Desktop disk. It should install and work on 128MB.

Ahh, thanks, I was wondering why the CD didn't come with a standard text install mode.
