Ubuntu Wireless Driver Problem - any ideas welcome
Okay to start with its my sisters laptop, ubuntu is my preferences due to its lets say ease of use. It has a Celeron about 1.6ghz i think and 256mb of memory.

I have installed hardy heron on it and the wireless driver is present without having to use restricted drivers. The problem is hardy heron really needs about 512mb of memory in my opinion to operate correctly, with this worry in mind i continued to install it in text mode only to be proved right. It runs about as fast as a dog with three broken legs.

So i moved on to dapper thinking this will solve my issue with the lack of ram, which it did and it runs reasonably and you have already guessed the problem i think, yepp no wireless drivers not even restricted ones. At this point its probably a good idea to mention the wireless card is made by microstar but thats all i really know about it. i have tried to look for solutions i.e installing drivers myself which i usually enjoy for a challenge but its now taking me more time than i wished to spend on it due to the fact i dunno what driver i need.

Any solutions would be welcome as long as the wireless works and the system runs reasonably. A different flavour of linux maybe, the driver that i need, how to make hardy work on less memory. Anything at all you could think of would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance
