What kind of error messages are you getting? What version of SuSe are you trying to install?

Peace...

I haven't received any error message. I want to replace the 98 OS w/ SUSE (9.2) and don't know where to begin. Please advise (step by step)

Try booting from a Live CD. That way you'll know if it will run on your hardware, and how well before you commit to an installation.

I don't know anything about that distribution, but something less robust, like Xubuntu or Puppy Linux, may be a better fit for your machine.

Duh, I misread your first post. It says "can" and I read it as "I can't".

Sorry about that.

Peace...

You can get instructions on downloading and installing SuSe here. The links on that page should get you started.

Peace...

Here's another link that may be informative for you: http://www.osnews.com/story/8699/Rev...nux_9_2_LiveCD

I guess you have your reasons for wanting that version, but here's also info on release 11: http://software.opensuse.org/

Just a word of warning:

I would be careful with Suse on this machine. You may experience some difficulties/performance degradation. 224 MB of RAM is not a lot. You might want to try a Linux distro with a smaller memory requirement. Or upgrading the memory in this laptop. :-).
