How much memory and disk space do you have?

The reason I ask is that in Linux, if you structure a directory with contents, you can do a two step process of:
1) building an ISO filesystem using the mkisofs command
2) make a .iso image of the contents of the directory and its contents using the cdrecord command.

Would this satisfy your objective? If so, I'll lay out the commands and their parameters in the order needed to accomplish this task.

Given that you have a .iso image, and want to view it to see what to extract, you would first need to mount the .iso image, then cd to it like any other filesystem, i.e. it is afterall an ISO filesystem image that contains the data, just like a directory on a hard disk (or in memory if using a Live CD for that matter).

i still have 3.1gb in my AA1,, i dont keep lots of stuff in my hard disk,, mostly i put all my music and video stuffs in my external hard disk,,

what i wanted to do is extract an iso image of a liveCD (ubuntu 8.04) i have already burned the iso image into a cdr using my friends pc,, but now that im back home, i wanted to extract the iso image that i still have in my external hard disk and put the extracted files to my usb,,

i know it's a nonsense thing, cause i already have the cd burned,, but i just want to try if i could make it boot from my usb,, cause before i already tried to do this with an ubuntu 7.04 (i think,,) but i wasn't successful,, but with this 8.04 i was able to boot from the cd,, maybe i using the same iso file that i downloaded, i could boot it from the usb without having any troubles,, like the one before,,

thanks for your help,, in advance,,

This thread has the steps to extract several iso to combine them into a DVD and then later in a pen drive.

The good news is the links lists all the steps and commands, like how to mount an iso on a loop back device to extract its content but the bad news is it doesn't work for Ubuntu as its initrd has not been compiled with the USB drivers to be available at boot time. Mepis, Slax and DSL are the ones ready to do what you want.

I have replaced isolinux with Grub but if the distro comes with syslinux too, a Dos-based boot loader, you can use it directly in a partition formatted to fat16 or fat32. I find Grub a lot easier myself.

Later Ubuntu may have improved but I haven't tried it myself.
