uninstalling ubuntu gutsy gibbon, but wants to keep grub
I have a triple boot system, which consist of XP, Ubuntu, and gentoo.

I want to try other distros out there and see which are the best.

The problem is i want to uninstall Ubuntu, i installed this one last for the grub loader, but now i want to uninstall Ubuntu, but i'm assuming that i will get rid of grub too.

is there away to uninstall Ubuntu, format that partition and install a fresh distro and just load grub into that? So in a way i still have gentoo and xp on the grub menu.

i was thinking of something light this time, maybe archlinux.

Any tips will be appreciated.

--thnx in advance.

I would just install your new distro into the old Ubuntu partitions (format if you wish) and let the new distro add it's own GRUB menu.

Or, install the new distro and "roll your own" custom menu.lst file afterwards.

If menu.lst is in the Ubuntu partition make "roll your own" easier by copying it to a safe location before proceeding.
