Hi there, welcome

This is a common problem that occurs with Ubuntu. It happens when the burned cd is not exactly perfect. This can happen when:
1. the download was corrupted... for that you want to check out https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM for an explanation on how to verify downloads
2. the cd did not burn properly... for that you should "verify data after burn" (an option in most cd burning software)
3. the cd itself is not perfect ( a cd-rw that has been used more than once, or a scratched cd) ... if it is that, you should try burning the image onto a new CD-R or even a DVD avoiding CD-RWs
