Solved: Ubuntu asking for mount password even when provided Hello folks,
I am using ubuntu 8.04, fully patched and up to date. I am trying to make a script in it that involves mounting a CIFS/SMB share that is hosted on a machine running windows xp professional. I wrote a small smbmount command for the script and i seem to run into a problem as although the command does work, for some strange reason it still asks for a password. If i provide the password the share works perfectly. But if i do not the mount fails. Why is it asking for the password, i tried both directly entering it and adding it to a text file with no dice. How would i resolve the issue?
