Question Tempted
After reading a magazine on Linux, I am tempted to try it out, but the only concern that I have is the drivers for the existing hardware (eg) Scanner, Cameras and Printers & alike would I have to do a search for the equivalent to run on Linux instead of Windows XP.

Answers on a postcard too.

Check out http://www.linux-drivers.org/ It gives you a huge list of supported hardware with a handy search function.

Dual Boot
You should do what I do to all of my pc's.
Dual boot xp until you get everything working on the linux operating system, then switch over completely to linux. This way you can make sure that you get the most out of your linux experience and don't get tempted to switch back like I did a few times.

Hope this helps

In addition try using the live cd, which comes with most major distro's first and see if you actually like it.

Yea, if you have the requirements, the live cd feature is a great way to get into linux. When you are choosing an os, Ubuntu is the easiest to use, but there are many more.
