I wish you would have phrased this...ummm...
differently

Oh well. I've used
Knoppix STD
before. It's pretty good.

Thanks for your reply!
Yeah ive used Knoppix, i do like it and it is on my list of possibilities
As for my choice of words.. I figgured the word MY pretty much covered my intentions. Though they are true (i suppose people could say Im lieing). I just set up a wireless network recently and I want to run a host of tools to see how I can improve software level protection on my equipment b4 something bad happens *paranoia*
Any suggestions for security suites would be taken as well.
Thanks!

For the record, Knoppix STD does
not
contain "hacking tools", only applications to test
network security.
Good luck with your project.

of course, and this is my intention. Im not looking to modify or destroy any data, simply to discover vulnerabilities on my computers that have their radios enabled.

i can tell that im a
bt3
user since it was a
backtrack2
reelese and didnt had no problems with it and as a port scanner try the
NMAP
obviously a perfect app or live iso dont exist cuz it depends what you need to use it for .... if u need to crack a
wep
key of a wifi
than use
bt3 live cd
... and for manuals just use google and in 30 mins of studying and 5 to 10 mins of scanning youll by able to crack your own wifi getting the wep key ....... if the key is
wpa2
than i think that bt3 will not help u .......
hope it helps

thanks for the reply!
I am glad to get some feedback on bt3. I do plan on keeping these as live distros so I can easily switch between a distro. I am probably going to stick with WEP as I dont know much about WPA2 yet (i was listening to an episode of security now! on wpa2 and it sounds a lot harder to break than WEP so I might want to look into it... Thanks for the continuing feedback. Any more suggestions/comments welcome.
