Solved: Lost the ability to boot into Linux after installing Vista
Been using Linux for years, today I decided to dual boot with Vista. So I partitioned my hard drive and installed Vista. Not it just boots directly into Vista, how do I get Grub back so I can choose which OS to boot into?

Two alternatives

(1) Make Vista booting Linux

This thread explains it.

(2) Restore Grub

Just get any Linux Live CD and activate a Grub shell. If Linux is in the 2nd partition (the one with /boot) of the 1st disk know to Grub as (hd0,1) then these two lines will restore Grub back to the MBR
Code:
root (hd0,1)
setup (hd0)
You need to amend /boot/grub/menu.lst to boot Vista afterward.

Most of the information is available in the last link of my signature. The 2nd method is a lot easier.
