Thumbs down What's .bundle
I have a particular software to be installed in linux. It contains as a .bundle file. I think this is a compressed file like .tar.gz2. Is somebody familiar with this format? How do you extract the things in such a file to a normal directory?

Thanks in Advance

Hi 060456F,

Issue the file command against the bundle file:
$ file <filename>.bundle
where <filename> is the filename proper and .bundle is its suffix
to see what the system says about the format of the file and what it appears to be.

If it comes back with the information that it is a compressed tar file, then rename the file to <filename>.tar.gz and proceed with gunzip and tar to uncompress and extract the file.

Based on these links:

http://filext.com/file-extension/BUNDLE
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bundle_(NEXTSTEP)

the ".bundle" file is a Mac OS X package. If the app you're installing has been ported to Mac OS X, that file might be for the Mac OS X port.

Peace...

I understood what .bundle is?
Those two links were superb. Thanks!
Lotuseclat79 : Why it's named .bundle ? It could have named straight away .tar.gz .

Thanks guys
