How do you remove a Linux Install (and LILO)?
I know, this may seem like a silly question to post after the one I just posted, but I may remove the current Mandrake and try something else. I have Win98 on the C and D partitions (it doesnt even see the Linux partition on E) and dont want to have to re-format anything get the Linux OS or the LILO boot manager removed. Just want to be able to go back to a direct boot to windows.

Thanks,

The info to load LILO is in the Master Boor Record. To remove it i believe you can boot with the Win98 boot floppy and type in Fdisk /MBR to reset the info. You should then only get Win98 to boot. I think you can then go to Fdisk and use the setting to remove a non-dos partition. You would then need to reset that partition again and format it to use as a Windows partition. I am a newbe to Linux also and think my info is correct. You may want to wait until tomorrow and hope that someone more knowledgeable with Linux responds before trying my sugestion.

Hi Noodle:
I agree with Paul, the only exception would be if you used
easy format when you installed your windows.
Also if you only want to boot windows, you could go into
linux and redo the lilo.config file so only windows shows up.
If you are installing another linux distribution it would be
easiest to leave the partitions alone. Dean
