Whats the Latest News On A Gaming Distro?
I myself (and I am sure Others will agree) only continue to use windows just because of gaming.

I was wondering if any one has heard anything new about Gubuntu lately? If I remember correctly there was talk of making a gaming version of ubuntu specifically so that games developers would only have to develop for one Unix OS and not be put off by the thousands of different Distro's with different configurations like they have in the past?

And what happened too http://www.games-knoppix.org/

Comments anybody?

Not exactly what you are looking for, but clearly the latest news re: Linux/gaming.

Linux Game Console Ready To Ship.

Envizions announced that it is taking orders for an open-source Linux gaming system, and will start shipping beta units to game developers, resellers, and software partners on April 10. The EVO Smart Console is based on a 2.4GHz Athlon, and includes a Fedora-based Linux distro.

I have got to admit that that is pretty cool, but having thrown nearly all my money for years now into building gaming pc's. I can safely say I have a fobia of consoles and avoid them. (athough it's getting harder nowadays to distinguish between a pc and console)

I was basically asking if any one has heard of, or heard the latests news of a 'gaming' unix that has pre-compiled (or shipped with) support for most windows games? I know of Wine and WineX and to be honest I don't like spending hours setting up crysis, cod5, etc just to get a measly 50fps average and usually 'flaky' stability. Because I can get the same poor results in Windows much quicker

I know this is a question Every Unix user has heard and/or researched hundreds if not thousands of times before, but I really had my hopes set on Gubuntu since 2006 but I now know that hasn't happened.
