Exclamation Apache/MySQL/PHP Questions
I'm about to develop my first web database application. The project will differ slightly since the Internet will not actually be involved. Here's the situation:
I will setup a Linux Box with Apache, MySQL and PHP installed and configured. Obviously, I'm going to write a the application with PHP against a MySQL database.
For now, there will be one computer, running Windows 98 accessing the web app. So, I planned on configuring the Windows 98 machine to see the Linux box. My questions are:
Since the Internet is not involved, how do I configure Apache so that it serves webpages to this one machine?
What address will I point the browser to?
I would also appreciate someone's opinion on what flavor of Apache I should go with...RedHat or SUSE?

Umm err I think you mean what flavour of linux should you go with Redhat or Suse, personally I recommend slackware, but redhat for a beginner is probably best.

Get the latest stable builds of apache, php, and mysql. They have alot of documentation on how to install them.

Apache will serve to everything that can see it unless you block them. If you don't have a domain use the IP to connect to your linux box from your windows box.

That should get you started.
