Ubuntu Ultimate Gamers Edition
Hi everyone. I just want to know if there is anybody that could tell me what they think of the Ubuntu Ultimate Gamers Edition. I'm seriously thinking of getting it for my other computer. Do anyone think its a good idea?

Don't mean to nit pick here but how can you have an Ultimate Gamer Edition of Linux when most PC games don't run on Linux? DOn't get me wrong I've used Linux and have the last several releases of Ubuntu and several other distros. But a gamer OS Linux is not. When it can play Left 4 Dead and Bioshock (or insert favorite games here) then we can have an Ultimate Gamers Edition. Stick with the standard Ubuntu relase it's stable and runs great.

Hi lawson_jl,

BruinBeer's not talking about an Ultimate Gamer Edition of Linux (I think - maybe not), he's talking about Ultimate Ubuntu which is a special edition of Ubuntu Linux crafted for games. Are they the same?

See: Ultimate Edition 2.2.

There is an Ultimate Gamer Edition of Ubuntu I had to check myself. Link Here I am pro Linux but still laugh when the words gamer and linux are used in the same sentence.

Ah, it looks like they are the same.

Such as it is as you say, Linux cannot play every game, but that is not a fault of Linux - it is only a restriction because the games that play only on Windows were crafted only for Windows and are/were not portable in their design and coding.

If you search this forum for threads with the keyword game, then you will find links to games that can be played on Linux - well over 300 last I recall.

Here's a link to the thread: Linux Gamers' Game List: 371 total. (Now: 378)
