Ubuntu Server Display Driver Not Working
Hey there!

I am trying to figure out what is going on here. I'm using Ubuntu Server Edition, and I can't seem to get my display to work correctly. I just purchased this kit off of Tiger Direct, and I'm pretty sure that the onboard video card is Nvidia, but I don't have the exact specs on it. However, when I click on Hardware Drivers under Administration, a box comes up saying there are no proprietary drivers are in use on this system.

However the list it gives me are as follows:
NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 180) [Recommended]
NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 173)
NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 96)

None of them are currently activated, and Ubuntu is currently running in low resolution. I've tried activating all of them, and I always get the same error message when I restart:

Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode
The following error was encountered. You may need to update your configuration to solve this.

(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to load the NVIDIA kernel module!
(EE) NVIDIA(0): *** Aborting ***
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration

How do I fix this so I can use my driver properly?

...But the Server Edition has no GUI, no graphics, no video...

...It is entirely text, CLI, based...

...To have a GUI, graphics, video you will need to install a desktop e.g.:
Quote:
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

That is what I did awhile ago. I installed GNOME quite awhile ago right after I had the server configuration setup.
