Minimum Graphics Requirements for VM Server
Hey All,

I have a P4 box that I've blown the AGP slot in and I am trying to make a simple VM server out of it to put it to good use.

There is no onboard graphics, so I am stuck with a couple of PCI graphics cards that I have lying around. They probably have somewhere between 4-16MB graphics memory.

I have tried to install Debian and Ubuntu desktop versions, although I can't seem to get them running.

Ubuntu gets to the login screen after install and when I put in my password the desktop crashes instantly and sends me back to the login screen

Debian boots but also crashes on login.

Am I doing something wrong? I would like a simple machine that I can run a few VM's on with Virtualbox and thought Linux was the best way to go (presumably because of a low RAM footprint).

I am not experienced with operating linux through the command line interface, hence the reason I am installing the desktop versions.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Thank you very much for your help in advance.

Peter.
