Unhappy Any way to get by with offline Ubuntu?
I just downloaded Ubuntu, but I've come across a stumbling block. Working offline is a complete and total pain the the butt. I am aware of the online list you can get from your browser.. but with more complex programs like blender, include a LOT of dependency's. So is there any portable synaptic-package-manager that can go on a flash drive (that is compatible with windows, so i can switch it over to my ubuntu machine without much hassle). Please help.

Thanks in advance.

I'd go to the Ubuntu forums and search "How to download complete repository?"

Start with this one.

Why not connect your Ubuntu to the internet? Ubuntu won't work with so-called "Win-modems" because it does not have the software to operate them, though drivers are available for many. But if you get a good standalone external modem for your serial port, Ubuntu will use it easily.

Of course, I'm assuming dial-up. Any broadband connection will work with Ubuntu.

Hi IamAwindowsGamr,

Aw c'mon, blender only includes 11 packages along with it as seen from System>Administration>Synaptic Package Manager.

How much memory do you have?

You can look Pendrivelinux to find out how to create an Ubuntu 9.04 USB flash drive with persistent store.

Why are you offline with Ubuntu anyway?
