Upgrade an End Of Life release of Ubuntu to 8.04 LTS
Has anyone tried upgrading an End of Life release of Ubuntu to the most recent LTS release 8.04? Just want to know the steps you took and which version you upgraded from.

Get 9.04, it has better features. OpenOffice.org 3.x (instead of 2.x) and Firefox 3.x (instead of the Beta version). And in my opinion, it's more stable than 8.04 LTS

hey
9.04 is nice but i would checkout the live cd first. There are some bugs being worked out still, especially with ATI. A good test is to check out a youtube video and wait about 5 minutes. If it kicks you off the network and starts making noise (similar to the startup noise) then you may want to hang with 8.04 or 8.10. check out the ubuntu forums of course

I haven't noticed a problem with streaming video and 9.04. I go on hulu.com all the time, and also visit YouTube from time to time.

huh
Do you have ATI for graphics? I may have written it off as an ATI prob due to minimal reading and it working with my nvidea. I would like to know though because I loved the look and feel of it.

Also side note: my 8.10 install would give me trouble connecting until I installed the third party ATI drivers

this is my lspci output:

I've upgraded a 6.06 LTS to 8.04LTS with no problems. Backup first, though.
