Internal Email to External ISP Email - Be easy on me!
Hi all!!

I am 'migrating' from an MS Exchange 5.5 to the Open Source world and have some questions that I HOPE you can help with!!!! It took the Exchange to crash for my boss to finally see the $$$ in upgrading Exchange!!! BTW, the users currently have our ISP POP3 accounts directly on their Outlook 2003/2007 clients...Bad, I know...That's why I'm posting as well!!!

I have been searching for answers on my Internal Ubuntu 8.04 Server install with Zimbra ZCS 5.0 (http://www.zimbra.com/products/) and downloaded and installed the Open Sourced edition. http://www.zimbra.com/community/downloads.html

Now, I can SSH into the Server, Run the Zimbra Web based Administrator and have installed the client software from Zimbra/Yahoo as well as Web Mail, logged in with Accounts that I have created and I can send internal emails all day! However, I have (2) problems (for now)

First, I have on my domain.srv showing the following deferred email errors:

Sender: user1@domain.prv
From host: localhost.localdomain
From domain: domain.prv
From IP: 127.0.0.1
recipients: EXTERNALUSER@gmail.com
to domain: gmail.com
content filter: undefined
size: 1100
Reason: connect to XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX (XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX):connection timed out.

The Above IP address is the same in both fields. This is the email address our ISP provided us as the address for our external email accounts (user@domain.com) So, I can't email outside of my internal server. This is setup on an internal IP address of 192.168.X.250. I have internet available on this private subnet and on my router I have pointed port 25 to this internal IP address.

The Second problem is this... I get THIS from my Outlook client as to the reason for the obstruction when I try to send OUT email from my Outlook 2003/2007 Client....ACTUALLY while trying to log into the Zimbra email server...

Task 'server1.domain.prv: Folder:Inbox Check for new mail.' reported error (0x800CCC0E) : 'Outlook is unable to download folder Inbox from the IMAP e-mail server for account server1.domain.prv. Error: Unable to connect to the server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'
Task 'Checking for new mail in subscribed folders on server1.domain.prv.' reported error (0x800CCC0E) : 'Outlook is unable to download folder (null) from the IMAP e-mail server for account server1.domain.prv. Error: Unable to connect to the server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

I tried to follow this for the Outlook Client setup:
http://wiki.zimbra.com/index.php?tit..._Configuration

Could be I'm posting on the wrong forum, sooo if it needs to be moved... so be it...

DNS /MX/A records?!? BTW, I am trying to get up to speed on those terms as it is as well as the files in Linux to change them correctly.... /etc/hosts ?!?!?

Any Linux /Sendmail/Postfix/Zimbra Gurus out there?!?!?

I have modified/changed info on the file above to make it GENERIC, to protect the innocent!

While digging around the forum, I found these Threads that are similar to what I have going on...

Hope that is helpful as well!
