Lubuntu: Floats Like a Butterfly, Stings Like a Bee.

Some complain that there is simply too much choice in the free software world and far too many Linux distributions. Well, now there’s another called Lubuntu. A derivative of Ubuntu with the LXDE desktop, it’s super light and very fast. Finally, there’s an Ubuntu perfectly suited to those older, low end machines!

Looks like it's not ready for primetime as yet (at least for a noob like me). I look forward to a working release as I have a couple of older machines that choked to death on Ubuntu 7/8/9.

Thanks for the info...
Downloaded & ran the Live CD. Looks slick but can't get it to find my wireless connection. Surprised at this (as it's Ubuntu based) as I had no prob with the Live CDs for Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Crunchbang and Mint finding wireless in live CD mode.
Still it's not the final version yet.
Strangely, I had the same prob with Kubuntu and Linux Mint KDE .. but I did not pursue this as the others (& Mandriva) all worked.

I found it by searching for "Lubuntu download": Lubuntu 9.10 Beta 14: Free Download

Looked interesting, but I also did not find how to manage a wireless connection. Probably need to download/install a package or two, but did not spend time investigating that.
