Try this:

1. Boot from your Windows XP install CD and choose the "Repair" option when prompted.
2. This will put you at a DOS prompt
3. Type: fixmbr
4. Press Enter.

This will rebuild the Master Boot Record and when finished, you should be able to type exit, then restart computer normally. Good luck.

Download Freedos from another PC to a floppy or a CD.

Boot it up and type

Code:
fdisk /mbr
A Dos floppy with fdisk.exe will do but Freedos is available in an iso image for CD. Freedos is to get you over without a Xp installation CD.

Otherwise get hold of another Xp Home installation CD and do what helpmerick suggested. Both methods work.
