It says to completely remove and reinstall rhythmbox to get mp3 working.
That is not a fix, since it doesn't directly address the problem. It is a workaround and a kludge - it removes any and all configuration settings, in the (apparently successful) hope that it also clobbers whatever's wrong.
There should at least be warning that it will destroy the existing config - it's not immediately apparent unless you actually know what you're doing, and if you know what you're doing you're likely to investigate further than a straight --purge. |
