Buffer space consumed by ???
Something is using my buffer space, and is really slowing down networking.

Pages are loading slowly, and ping response times to router are not good, and occasionally this:

ping: sendmsg: No buffer space available
ping: sendmsg: No buffer space available
ping: sendmsg: No buffer space available
ping: sendmsg: No buffer space available
ping: sendmsg: No buffer space available
ping: sendmsg: No buffer space available

Nothing has changed on this laptop (except regular Hardy 8.04 updates) for the last 2 years.

HP dv9428 AMD Turion64 x2, 2G ramsticks.

On one instance it froze completely. 2 pages open - no youtube stuff, no heavy usage stuff. I opened the cli to ping, minimized it, opened another page, and left the machine for another desktop to compare, came back, it was locked.

Thanks, please indicate which Linux distribution OS/version you are running.
Isn't Hardy 8.04 the distro/OS/version???

Hi TRS80 vet,

Is it possible to reboot your computer? If so, do it, and issue the command free to find out what space is being used on boot up.

It sounds like your system is hosed for some reason and rebooting should eliminate the condition - I would call it a constipated system!
