linux and linksys router
Hi all, im currently running suse linux 8.0 on one of my machines, And im unable to get to the internet when i hook my linux box up to my linksys router. However if i connect to my cable modem direct, i get right on.

some specs:
suse linux 8.0
netgear FA311 nic card
linksys 4 port router

Can you ping the LAN address of the router from your machine? If not, suspect a cable problem (using crossover instead of straight-through, for example). If you can ping the LAN address of your router, you might try using a different cable to connect your router to your modem (again, you may have a mismatch; check your router and modem docs for the type of cable required). You might also try pinging a well-known IP address on the internet; if this works, you likely have a DNS configuration problem.
